A weekend visit to the Northern Rivers seven years ago was all it took to convince small engine mechanic Rob Balderi that this was the place he wanted
to start his own business.
After spending a few years working with other mechanics in the area Rob and his wife, Judy, established Rob’s Discount Mowers in the Russellton
Industrial Estate.
“I was born and raised in Lismore, but Rob had never been here – he liked the holiday so much he said ‘that’s it, let’s go’
and six weeks later we were here,” Judy said.
Rob has more than 30 years experience working as a small engine mechanic and in the last two years he has built up a loyal following of locals.
Rob’s Discount Mowers provides a comprehensive sales and repair service. The business stocks all the garden care equipment a person could possibly
need including chainsaws, mowers, ride-ons, brushcutters, blowers, chippers, water pumps and even pressure sprayers for weeds. There’s also a large
range of accessories, including safety gear, and spare parts.
“As well as selling a full range of garden machinery we can service all makes and models of equipment – it doesn’t matter if it’s
a brand we don’t stock, we can still fix it,” Rob said. “Our mission statement is to provide our customers with excellent service, quality
products and quality repairs completed in the shortest possible time, all at a reasonable price. We built the business into what it is today by doing just
that.”
Other than brushcutters, Rob only sells Australian-made products – something both he and Judy are proud of.
“We much rather sell Aussie equipment and keep the dollars in Australia than send the money overseas,” Rob said. “The really good thing
about Australian-made equipment is that it’s a lot stronger than imported brands because it’s built to suit the Australian terrain.”
Rob’s Discount Mowers currently has a great special on – with every chainsaw purchased the customer receives a free bonus kit with two bottles
of oil, a fuel can and a spare chain. Ride-ons are also on special, starting from $4,600 with a five year warranty.
