Brewing up a Treat
Proprietor of Richmond Homebrewing, Jeff Butcher, with his huge range of home brew supplies available in Lismore.
Theres nothing quite like a cold beer after work, except maybe a cold beer youve brewed yourself.
Home brewing might sound a little daunting, but the reality is very different its actually an easy, cheap and healthy way to make your own beer, and with summer on the way its a great hobby to take up.
Jeff Butcher from Richmond Homebrewing in Lismore has been helping people to establish home brew systems for more than five years, and the great thing about home brewing is you dont just have to brew beer.
Whatever your favourite drop Jeff can provide you with the equipment and advice to make an endless supply.
We have a great range but our biggest is beer we have 80 different types of beer, from the palest, lightest lager right through to a full-bodied stout, Jeff said. If you like wine then we also have a good selection from plain, simple white wines to full-bodied cabernet sauvignon. There are huge savings to be had if you brew your own drinks, and you always have a supply at home. Plus its a healthier alternative there are no preservatives or artificial colours so its a lot better for you.
For just $77 Jeff can supply you with a complete home brew kit to get started, which will make 23 litres two and a half cartons of beer. Once established it costs even less to brew the beer each time.
To complement Jeffs home brew supplies, he has a huge range of bar accessories with everything from corkscrews and shot glasses for a small bar to whisky tumblers and decanters for something a little more sophisticated. There is also commercial beer and spirits merchandise for the collector.
And knowing how well beer and footy go together, Jeff stocks NRL merchandise and memorabilia for most teams currently in the NRL. Jeff has pretty much every piece of merchandise you could want, whether its a $5 sticker or an authentic players jersey.
