If you’re thinking of buying a watch or clock for a loved one this Christmas, there’s simply nowhere else to look but Lismore Timezone.

Proprietor Graeme Hoskins has spent his entire working life at Lismore Timezone – he trained as an apprentice under the former owner after leaving school in 1968, before taking over the business with his wife Ann in 1996.

Today Graeme and Ann run the store with help from retail manager Leanne Bartlett, experienced watchmaker Dennis Rose, and Nathan Rose, who is currently a second year apprentice with the business.

“It’s fairly rare to find a business with two watchmakers outside a big city, so we are quite unique in that we have two fully qualified watchmakers on staff, another one on the way and a retail manager with 10 years experience a very wide product knowledge,” Graeme said. “I literally have a lifetime of experience in the industry – or at least 34 years worth – so we know the trade inside and out. We still do a lot of the hands-on work, which really keeps us up-to-date with industry changes, and we’re members of the Horological Guild of Australia, so there’s very little we’re not familiar with.”

To give customers the best service possible and to ensure efficiency and accuracy, Graeme and Ann have resisted the trend to branch out into other areas of sales and repair.

“We purely and simply concentrate on selling and repairing watches and clocks – that’s what we’ve made out name doing and we plan to continue doing just that,” Graeme said. “We don’t do jewellery or anything else – we focus all our efforts on watches and clocks, and providing an old-fashioned, friendly and affordable service to our customers.”

Lismore Timezone don’t sell any disposable watches or clocks – all the watches are repairable so they can last people for years.

And there’s every type of watch you could want.

For the sporty types, there are divers watches with altimeters, barometers and depth gauges, or for the golf player there’s watches that can track the distance of drives and the specific club used. These amazing sports watches are even PC compatible, so you can download the recorded information into your own computer at home after your day out. The store also stocks kids watches in a variety of bright colours and fun designs, mens and ladies dress watches to suit all tastes, solar-powered watches, kinetic watches and even watches with cameras.

Watches sold at Lismore Timezone include the more affordable ranges such as Q&Q and Casio, quality brands like Pulsar, Victorinox, Lorus and Adec, right up to the top of the range Citizen and Seiko watches.

In addition to watches the business sells a huge range of wall clocks, from kids clocks with cartoon designs such as Mickey Mouse to stained wooden wall clocks with ornate designs.

There are wall clocks to suit any taste or décor in fact, with a variety of different designs including Celtic, nautical, traditional old English or modern chic.

If you’re after something even more impressive, there’s stunning grandfather or pendulum clocks, striking and chiming clocks and a lovely range of cuckoo clocks.

Alternatively, Lismore Timezone have weather instruments such as barometers, thermometers, hygrometers and compasses, as well as a range of hip flasks.

Lismore Timezone offers all customers three-month lay-bys, plus free quotes on all watch and clock repairs (major clock and watch repairs are covered by a 12-month warranty, excluding parts).

All new stock currently comes with a 12-month warranty, with some up to three years. People are welcome to drop in at Lismore Timezone (cnr Keen and Magellan Streets) anytime for a browse, or you can phone the store on 6621 3944.
