Old-fashioned service a Crethar tradition
Premier Art and Picture Framing's Spero Crethar (right) and Peter Crethar (left) help customer Chris Macris with his framing needs.
Premier Art and Framing in Lismore are custom framing specialists and, with 23 years experience under their belts, proprietors Harry and Maria Crethar know the importance of old-fashioned, personalised service.
Harry has now retired, but Maria continues to operate the store with their two sons Spero and Peter, who grew up watching their parents build the business.
Spero now operates the framing service, and over the years he and his staff have framed an extraordinary variety of things. Apart from the usual such as prints, photographs and original artworks, they have framed mirrors, tapestries, war medals, sporting guernseys and memorabilia, wedding bouquets and all manner of weird and wonderful things. They also do corporate framing and are happy to give advice on hanging.
"Spero and his staff take pride in every frame they make," Maria said. "Special care is taken to ensure that your framing is made to last - acid-free materials are used throughout and advice is given on any specific requirements. We understand choosing a frame can be a little overwhelming, given the choices available. We are happy to help select the right frame so you feel happy with the finished product, and walk away with something that will give you years of satisfaction and pleasure."
Premier Art and Picture Framing also stock art supplies to cater for artists of all ages and experience, from beginners to professional artists and everyone in between. Maria and staff are happy to help you select the right materials for your particular art, craft or hobby, and there are special student discounts available all year round.
The business also has a wonderful collection of art prints to suit every taste and decor, and people can select from a wide variety of traditional, impressionist, modern or wildlife prints. People are welcome to browse through the prints in-store at anytime and of course, you can always select a custom-made frame to enhance your print even further if so desired.
Maria's son Peter also operates Crethars Pool Tables within the store, after watching and helping his father Harry with the business from a young age.
Peter currently has 12 tables in stock, including beautiful slate tables starting at just $1850. Peter also provides a full after sales service and has a lifetime of experience in repairing, re-rubbering, re-felting and re-conditioning of pool and billiard tables.
He can turn existing machines into coin-operated facilities and give trade-ins on old tables, plus he freights anywhere in Australia. Peter currently has new cues in stock, with timber ash and graphite cues at particularly excellent prices.
