Competitive prices, quality products and friendly service has been the emphasis at Lismore Heights General Store for the last 50-odd years, and new owners Peter and Narelle Geraghty are already carrying on that tradition.
The long-time Lismore residents bought the business last October and already they are enjoying their newfound profession as shopkeepers.
“We wanted a new challenge and having lived around the corner from the store for some time, we knew it had a long and respectable history in Lismore,” Narelle said. “Owning our own business is something we’ve always wanted to do, and so when this opportunity presented itself we just couldn’t pass it up.”
Lismore Heights General Store is conveniently located on Ballina Road, just next door to a post office and service station so you can get all those little jobs done at once. Peter and Narelle have a full lunch menu featuring homemade sandwiches and burgers, as well as take away food for busy workers.
In all other aspects Lismore Heights General store is a lot like a mini-supermarket, stocking everything from the basics like milk, bread and newspapers to groceries and fresh, local fruit and vegetables. Peter and Narelle also stock a variety of extras such as toiletries, birthday cards, pet food and just about everything else you’d find in a normal supermarket.
In fact the only difference between it and a supermarket is that at Lismore Heights General Store you’ll be greeted with a warm smile and treated to helpful, friendly service.

“We really try to keep our prices down so we can compete with other service stations and general stores,” Narelle said. “In fact some of our prices are even cheaper than the supermarket.”
Peter and Narelle currently have a number of specials. Buy any two Norco or Pauls two litre milk bottles and receive a two litre So Juicy fruit drink in any flavour you choose. They also have 1.25 litre soft drinks (hot only) for just $1.30 and 10 packs of coke, diet coke and sprite for $6.99 each (hot only). The store is open from Monday-Saturday from 6am to 7pm and on Sundays from 7am to 2pm. For more information phone 6625 1117.
