Architect Knows the Land
Heather Fraser (top left) has designed a large number of houses in the local area and several small commercial buildings and extensions. Some of these include the verandah at Choices Café in Nimbin, the original building for Uki Steiner School and the extensions for Vistara Primary School in Richmond Hill.
Building a home is a big commitment, and one that local building designer Heather Fraser doesnt take lightly.
Heather believes the most important aspect of her work is the time she spends getting to know her clients, in order to understand their needs and building requirements.
Heather has a degree in architecture, coupled with 23 years of experience in the design and documentation of buildings and extensions, has resulted in a great number of different projects meeting the needs of a wide variety of clients.
Heather believes in creating buildings that maximise the benefits of interesting indoor/outdoor living with the use of courtyards, breezeways and sheltered outdoor spaces.
Her designs have covered many different building styles, utilising a wide range of materials including brickwork, timber poles, mud brick and straw bale.
When designing and building a home Heather will visit the site, and after an initial consultation and site assessment she will design the proposed scheme in full consultation with the relevant authorities. Basic or full working drawings are provided to the home owner, and on-site consultations are available during construction.
Heather knows that in fully understanding her clients needs, she is able to provide them with a living space that fits their lifestyle as well as being environmentally sound. This ensures a space that will give the owners much comfort and pleasure in the years to come.
