84 Years of Cycling Advice

If any business in Lismore can say it’s proud to be local – it’s Harris Cycles, which has been servicing the Lismore community for more than 80 years.
Cecil Harris and Harold Wotherspoon established Harris Cycles in Lismore in 1918 and today, 84 years later, the store is run by Harold’s granddaughter Amanda and her husband, Darryl Pursey.
Being a family-owned business for more than eight decades has resulted in a highly qualified and committed team of staff, equipped with the knowledge to give their customers the very best of service.
Harris Cycles pride themselves on providing a quality customer service where the trained staff work with the customer to find the most suitable bike and helmet.
“Together our staff have a huge pool of knowledge they can pass onto customers,” proprietor, Darryl Pursey, said. “We can find the right size and make of bike for people, and we can then go that one step further and have the bike personalised. This could mean a different seat or a new set of handlebars attached – whatever it is we can guarantee our customers will leave the shop with exactly the bike they were looking for.”
Harris Cycles has a huge range of kids and adults bikes, from a toddlers’ tricycle to a state-of-the-art mountain racing bike.
The bikes come in a variety of top quality brands including Apollo, Mongoose, Malvern Star and Cannondale to name a few. Currently the business has all new stock and they are more than happy to do lay-bys now for Christmas.
“Without a doubt, we have a bike to suit everyone,” Darryl said. “Whether it’s short, recreational rides around town or long, arduous cross-country rides we have a bike that will suit the purpose. I think customers leave our business feeling satisfied because we take the time to listen to what they want before we try and provide it.”
As well as bikes and helmets Harris Cycles also sells reflective lights and clothing to further enhance safety and all the common accessories such as pumps, tyre tubes, repair kits, water bottles, bags, chains and locks, horns, gloves and much more.
