Outstanding Service at Savins
After 40 years in business in the local area, Savins Radiator Service has been recognised for its outstanding service and helpful, friendly staff.
In October Savins Radiator Service won the state Associated Motor Traders Award for excellent service, while office manager Rosalie Savins was named Business Woman of the Year for the northern region.
"We were very excited to win the state award – after all the years of hard work its really nice to get some recognition and to know we are doing good job," Rosalie said. "The award tells us that people must be pleased with the service we provide and that's fantastic. The state award was a surprise in itself, but I really wasn't expecting to get a personal award – I didn't even realise I'd been nominated! It was such a surprise, but definitely a welcome one."
Savins Radiator Service was established four decades ago by radiator expert Geoff Savins and his wife Rhelma, in small premises in the CBD. As the reputation of the business grew, so did the clientele, and in the late 1970s the business moved to larger premises where they could cater for the multitude of work.
In 1982 Geoff and Rhelma's son Garry and his wife Rosalie moved back to the area and joined the partnership. This injected new ideas and energy into the business, and combined with the strong structure already in place, the business flourished.
Three years later the business moved into even larger premises in King Street, Lismore, where it is still located today. At this stage Geoff and Rhelma began to step back a little from the business, but after the untimely death of Garry in late 2000, Geoff came back to full-time work to train the staff.
Today there are five experienced staff members working in the shop, while Rosalie manages the office.
The business continues to specialise in radiators, repairs and new units, and currently services an area north to Murwillumbah, west to Tenterfield, south to Maclean and east to Ballina and Byron Bay.
Savins Radiator Service are proud to be part of the local community and they continue to support local charities, including the Life Saver Rescue Helicopter and St Vincent's Palliative Care Unit.
