An English Rose

After travelling around the world and finding inspiration for her craft Lennox Head artist and art teacher Meg English is back on home shores, with a new exhibition of works on show at the Frame-It Picture Framing & Gallery in South Lismore.

Owned by Cheryl and Brian Hope, the Frame-It Picture Framing & Gallery was based in Wyrallah Road for 12 months, before relocating to the bigger South Lismore premises to cater for the growing business.

Meg's exhibition is the first of many to be held at the new gallery, reflecting both her love of the local area as well as the places and people she encountered whilst overseas. With a classical background from the Julian Ashton Art School in Sydney, Meg travelled to Japan and studied calligraphy for 12 months, teaching English to pay her way. She then travelled extensively throughout Europe, plying her art and drinking in the centuries-old art culture. Not surprisingly, the streets and canals of Venice and the moonlit boulevards of Paris are features of the exhibition.

Meg has recently been invited to do a six-month Artist in Residence program at the Academy of Art of Highland Park in New Jersey, and if her current exhibition is anything to go by it's easy to see why.

The Frame-It Picture Framing & Gallery is at 19 Peate Street, South Lismore, and is open Monday to Friday from 8am-5pm and on Saturday mornings. Meg's exhibition will be on show until early January. For more information phone Meg on 6687 4232 or the gallery on 6621 8638.
