A big week for Casino
W ell, Casino's Week of Weeks has once again arrived. And what a week it promises to be.
On Friday night I was privileged to declare Beef Week 2003 off cially open at a packed function.
Highlight of the night was the presentation of the Beef Week Queen entrants. This year's entrants were a credit to their families and breed sponsors both in their enthusiasm for the industry and the manner in which they presented themselves to the gathering.
Today, Monday, we saw Casino at its outrageous, comical and spontaneous best.
The creativity and energies of business houses, schools and offices in decorating windows and premises is a wonderful experience which re ects a great love of our town and what we are doing to promote it.
The Beef Week Committee has given us timely notice that the colours for 2004 will be purple and gold; Writers and Books as the theme.
This week will be packed wiThevents for everyone of all ages.
Don't miss the Friday Breakfast and our Saturday entertainment in the streets.
Beef Week is an outstanding festival recognised as one of the best of its kind in provincial Australia.
Our strength lies in the successful link between industry and community.
Our children, in particular, receive a lasting impression of a vibrant, wholesome community.Congratulations President Terry Serone, tireless Co-ordinator Sandra Humphrys and all those volunteers who make Beef Week such a huge success T he CMCA Rally of Surprises off cially closed on Sunday evening but many of our visitors are staying on for Beef Week.
The Wanderers have endeared themselves to the people of Casino.
I have lost count of the numbers of CMCA members who have approached me to comment on the friendliness of Casino and to say thanks for a memorable experience.
The 2003 Rally of Surprises broke numerous records for the organisation.
The Rally was the largest assemblage of motorhomes ever seen on one site in Australia.
Open day raised in excess of $11, 00 0 for local charities. The number of evening meals served on site by the St.Marks Anglican catering group also set a new record.
Indications are that Casino will be the site for future rallies as the CMCA Village develops.Work there is progressing on schedule with the clubhouse renovations almost completed and landscaping well underway.
