Traditionally at this time of year the gallery holds an exhibition entitled Spring into Summer, which features a variety of local works. This year however gallery manager Andrew Chung decided to do something different and focus on bright, colourful artworks.
Colour is what people want everyone seems to be wanting big, bright artwork at the moment, perhaps to brighten up their lives in these unsettled times, Andrew said.
We have invited artists who work in a more contemporary style for this exhibition, thus the title Something Different! The work comes from local and interstate artists, with a number of new artists also being represented. Dallas Nock, Katherine Castle and Ellen Leo are artists who have moved to the area relatively recently and have some very vibrant work in the show. There are also works by renowned landscape artist Robert Simpson, which will no doubt be of interest to collectors of Roberts work.
Other local artists include Vic Yeates, Pat Jenkins, Margaret Brown and Pauline Smith. The exhibition runs until December 6, and the gallery is open Wednesday-Sunday from 10am to 5pm. For more information phone Andrew on 66628 0297.
