Austin Powers in Goldmember (M)
Directed by Jay Roach
Austin
Powers (Mike Myers) behind the wheel of his time-traveling 'Pimpmobile'.
He's back baby, even groovier and more hilarious than before - take my word for it.
That's right, fans have nothing to fear, this third instalment in the hugely popular Austin Powers, man of mystery spy spoofs is just as outrageous,
just as sick and in my mind even funnier than the previous two films.
Okay, so that's not saying much if you're not a fan, but hey, what's not to love... those teeth, those glasses, the infantile toilet
humour, all the kooky characters...
Goldmember finds Austin (Mike Myers) travelling back in time to the funky Seventies to rescue his dear old dad, Nigel Powers, International Man Of Mystery,
(Michael Caine) from the infamous Dutch master criminal Goldmember, (also played by Mike Myers). And don't ask. You don't want to know how he
got the name Goldmember. And why are clogs so funny?
Ready to do the hustle with Austin in 1975 is the totally shagadelic, extremely foxy Foxxy Cleopatra (Beyoncé Knowles), a CIA agent who has infiltrated
Goldmember's organisation.
Meanwhile, back in 2001 (or is that forward in 2001?) Austin's arch-enemy Dr Evil (Myers again, in the best tradition of Peter Sellers Pink Panther
series) and side-kick clone Mini-Me (Verne Troyer) have escaped from prison and are once again hatching a diabolical plan to destroy the world.
It's going to take a lot more than mojo to save the day and the planet!
They're all back, all the characters we've grown to love over the years, plus a few new ones. The good, the bad and the very, very ugly. Fat
Bastard (Myers one more time!), Number Two (Robert Wagner), Basil Exposition (Michael York), Frau Farbissina (Mindy Sterling), Scott Evil (Seth Green).
And be prepared for quite a few surprises! And some big name stars in cameo appearances!) So don't miss the first five minutes, or you'll be
sorry.
Sure it's rude, crude and lewd, but if you're in the mood for it - politically incorrect silliness that is - park your brain at the
door, along with your good taste, and enjoy.
After all, you could do worse. It could be another James Bond movie.
