Blade 2 (MA)

Blade 2 is part of an elite group - the sequels that actually improve on the original.

Of course if you weren't a fan of the first Blade (imagine Buffy with 'roid rage), that may not be saying much. I personally love a good vampire movie, the darker and scarier the better, and for action packed, blood sucking horror Blade 2 rates a big two fangs up!

Kudos then to atmospheric director Guillermo del Toro (The Devil's Backbone) whose extremely stylish, extremely violent take on the Marvel comic book character who is half-man, half-vampire is sure to be a big hit amongst action/horror fans.

Known as the "Daywalker" by his enemies, Blade (Wesley Snipes) possesses all the superhuman strength of a vampire, without any of the weaknesses. His mission in life, along with his best buddy Whistler (a craggy Kris Kristofferson), is to rid the world of true vampires so when his arch enemies, the Vampire Nation, come to him for help he is naturally suspicious, but the result is an unlikely alliance.

Apparently a new breed of uber-vampires have emerged called Reapers. Voracious killers, they feed on vampires, but unlike true vampires they are practically impossible to kill. And once the Reapers have wiped out all the vampires they plan to move on to the next available food source... humans!

Action packed from start to finish Blade 2 grabs you by the jugular and sucks you in. The fight scenes are fantastic, the Eastern European setting suitably creepy, the makeup and special effects are nauseatingly top notch and the soundtrack rocks! Sure it won't win any prizes for best screenplay, Blade is definitely the strong, silent type, but the acting is surprisingly good.

It's fangtastic! And had me screaming!
