Vole was written and rehearsed in 2001 and is now ready for the houselights to dim. It follows in the tradition of last year's hugely popular Pippin. Vole asks the challenging question What makes good theatre?' The cast explores how to engage an audience through movement, dance, performance poetry and acting. There are voles between audience and stage as to what works and what doesn't. The debate at times is the one between effects' and content' a feature of post-modern theatre. Through all the voles, there is an exploration of the issues of the human condition love, loneliness, restriction, freedom and more. The show is the culmination of a year's collaboration between the dance and drama departments at Trinity. It was devised and directed by teachers Melissa Rubbo, Peter Derrett and Genevieve Lewis and involves 48 year 11 and 12 students from the senior drama/dance classes.
