The Scene - Local Entertainment NewsA New Exhibition by Local Artist Willow Prokop-Al
iento, Wandering between Earth and Sky, is currently on show at Caddies in Lismore. The debut exhibition features 25 acrylic works, created in the last two years and inspired by the different environments in which Willow has lived during her life. 'I grew up in the West in the dry red earth, big sky country of the Riverina. The contrast between those shapes and colours and the contours and lushness of the Northern Rivers inspires me,' Willow said. 'I have been painting most of my life, but only recently moved beyond submitting the odd graphic to the Big Scrub newsletter. This is my first exhibition and selecting the works was a challenge. But then art is a journey - compelling, fascinating, sometimes frustrating and ultimately to be shared.' Willow's collection of works have all been framed and mounted with unusual materials, most of which are recycled, including timber, bamboo, mugwort stalks and even a Mickey Mouse disco LP. Wandering between Earth and Sky is on show until January 31.
