Bangalow's A & I hall becomes a showcase of Medieval furniture, fantasy and gothic sculptures, silk embroidery, homewares and beautiful paintings this weekend for the second annual ArtAbout exhibition.

The show features the works of 12 local artists who formed the ArtAbout co-operative two years ago. The ArtAbout team has invited another seven well-known local artists to join them for the show.

"Our members come from all walks of life and their artworks reflect that diversity," ArtAbout spokesman Keith Cameron explained.

"We have a retired resort manager, two farmers, a geology lecturer and some full-time artists in the group."

Many have met with critical success, including Keith Cameron, whose works, using recycled machinery, currently feature in the Thursday Plantation Sculpture show, winning the Channel 10 Acquisition award.

The show includes mandalas, fantasy sculptures in ceramics and clay, a wide range of glass art, bird studies in watercolour, "found object" collages and large cityscapes and abstracts.

ArtAbout Inc Exhibition 2001 is short and sweet, with the official opening this Friday, September 21, at 6pm (the show will be open from 2pm).
