The exhibition was created by Year 11 students from seven local high schools – Richmond River High School, Lismore High School, Trinity Catholic College, Southern Cross, Alstonville High School, Ballina High School, Kyogle High School and Mullumbimby High School.

All the students featured in the exhibition are currently studying visual arts. The syllabus encourages them to explore art making and its mediums, which has resulted in a extremely varied and creative exhibition.

The use of colour is especially popular with many of the paintings done in bold, vivid colours that bring a youthful vibrancy to the show. On the other hand, there are intricate pencil drawings as well as delicately carved soaps and painted pottery that looks like the work of a professional artist.

Sculpture is also a favourite among the students, with everything from Alice in Wonderland's tea cup to packaged body parts being depicted.

Body of Work is on show upstairs at Lismore Regional Art Gallery

The exhibition runs until August 5.
