Lismore Police dealt with a series of malicious damage incidents last week. A front sliding glass window was damaged in Rhodes Street, Lismore, between 6.25pm and 6.40pm last Wednesday. A 1995 Ford sedan, parked in Keen Street, Lismore, had several panels damaged between 5.25pm and 5.45pm last Tuesday, while a 2004 black Subaru sedan parked in Browns Creek car park was damaged between 11am and 1pm last Tuesday. Two cars were broken into at Ballina over the weekend. Thieves stole a watch and CDs from a Holden parked in Cedar Crescent, Ballina, sometime between 4.30am Friday and 3am Saturday. A mini iPod was taken from a Mitsubishi also parked in the same street between 9.30am Friday and 5pm Saturday.

A 1982 Holden Commodore parked in Walker Street, Casino, was seriously damaged after someone walked on the bonnet and roof between 10.30am and 11am on Saturday.

An 84-year-old Lismore woman fled her home in Molesworth Street after being woken at around 1.45am on Tuesday by the sound of a rear window being smashed. She ran to a neighbour's house where Police were contacted. A search failed to find the offender, but Police investigations are continuing. Any information to Lismore Police on 6623 1599.

Thieves stole an unregistered orange KTM motorcycle from a property in James Street, Dunoon, some time between 6pm Sunday and 5.30am Monday.

A 57-year-old man from Gumtree Drive, Goonellabah, was assaulted in his front yard around 10.30am on Monday. The man heard yelling and banging outside the front of his residence and went to investigate and saw a young man on the median strip who gestured to him. A short time later, his attacker allegedly came running through the bushes directly at the victim, throwing punches and kicking. The young man has been charged with assault.

Local Police, in conjunction with CGU Insurance, are conducting a Rural Crime Awareness program at Farmarama. Police are hoping to lift awareness in the rural community, especially when it comes to reporting stock and equipment theft and other farm-related crime. Crime Prevention Officer, Senior Constable Michael Hogan, said more than two-thirds of NSW farms experienced some form of property crime between 1999 and 2001, but only 23 per cent of farm crime is reported. Police will issue awareness brochures and "Please Shut the Gate" signs to farmers.

A 32-year-old Casino man has been charged over the theft of three Brahman cross cattle from a property on Boorabee Creek Road, Bentley, in June this year. Detectives from the Rural Crime Investigation Unit at Lismore arrested the man at a house in Fairway Drive, Casino, this week. He appeared in Casino Local Court on Wednesday. Police allege that the cattle were sold at the Lismore Saleyards the day after the theft.
