A 28-year-old man in Western Australia will be extradited to NSW to face charges
of murder and inflicting grievous bodily harm following the death of a man found
injured after a bashing in Nimbin.
The dead man was found seriously injured on July 25 and died in hospital on
August 3. Both he and his alleged attacker are believed to have been living temporarily
in Nimbin. Lismore detectives are still seeking information about the attack and
ask anyone who can help them to phone 6623 1529.
A house in Bridge Street Lismore received a 24-hour noise abatement order following
several complaints about noise. Police visited the premises several times before
deeming the level of music offensive around 9.30pm on Sunday.
A video camera and two hand-held CB radios were stolen when thieves broke into
and ransacked a house in Jubilee Avenue, Goonellabah, some time between 10am and

A 63-year-old Bonalbo man has been charged with a number of child sexual assault
offences after being arrested at Bonalbo on Monday. The offences are alleged to
have occurred between 1983 and 1991. He was charged with carnal knowledge with
a girl under 10 years and assault, two counts of intercourse and acts of indecency
with someone aged 10 -16 years. The man was refused bail and appeared in the Lismore
Local Court on Tuesday.
A surfboard worth $700 was stolen from a Mazda sedan parked in Grandview Street,
East Ballina, some time between 5pm Sunday and 8am Tuesday, Any information to
Ballina Police on 6681 8699.
Police are again warning motorists to not leave valuables in their care after
a woman had her handbag containing a mobile phone, wallet and other valuables
stolen from a Honda CRV within five minutes on Tuesday morning.
Police are looking for the driver of a white Mitsubishi utility following a
hit and run on Ballina Road, near Sunrise Crescent, Goonellabah, around 10pm on
Tuesday.
A 48-year-old Lismore man sustained cuts and abrasions to the right side of
his head and forehead after he drove off the road to avoid the out-of-control
ute, only to be side-swiped. The utility left the scene without stopping to offer
assistance. Police have spoken with witnesses and are continuing their investigation.
