A 61-year-old Erskinville man was killed around 6.15pm on Tuesday night when he was struck by a semi-trailer while walking in a southerly direction along the Bruxner Highway outside Lismore. It is believed the man was walking about 25 metres south of the Loftville Bridge (near the turn off to Coraki) when he strayed into the southbound lane of the highway and was hit by the truck. The semi-trailer was driven by a 49-year-old man from Whiporie. Anyone who saw the man walking in the general vicinity of Loftville Bridge or witnessed the accident is urged to contact Ballina Police on 6681 8618.

Police are seeking witnesses after two robberies at local credit union branches recently. On Tuesday a man entered the Magellan Street branch of Bananacoast Credit Union in Lismore and demanded money from one of the tellers. He escaped on foot with an unspecified amount of money and despite an extensive police search of the CBD could not be located. The man was described as being in his late 20s, about 172cm tall with an olive complexion and short, dark coloured hair. He was wearing a white jacket with a zigzag pattern on it, pants and joggers. The robbery follows a similar incident at Southern Cross Credit Union in Woodlark Street, Lismore, around 1.30pm last Friday, when a man allegedly approached two tellers inside the bank with a pair of scissors or similar weapon and demanded money. He fled with what police describe as a 'moderate' amount of cash. The man is described as Caucasian and between 20 and 25 years of age, of thin to medium build and approximately 170cm tall with short brown hair. He was wearing a dark coloured baseball cap, long pants and a dark coloured tracksuit top with a yellow stripe down the sleeve and the word 'KUSTOM' written in white across the chest. Police will not say if the two robberies are connected. Anyone who may have seen persons fitting either of these descriptions should contact Lismore Police on 6623 1599.

A 39-year-old Kyogle man was arrested at Woodburn on Saturday after he allegedly exposed himself twice in Kalimna Park, Evans Head, earlier that morning. The man was charged with two counts of wilful and obscene exposure, committing an act of indecency and intimidation. Police also allege that the man was involved in a similar incident over the Easter holidays at Air Force Beach in Evans Head. The man will appear in Lismore Loca, Court on July 4. Anyone who may have witnessed these or any other incidents should contact Woodburn Police on 6682 2444.

An 18-year-old man was arrested on Sunday night after he was caught drink driving and allegedly driving his 1987 Ford sedan on three wheels along the Coast Road at Lennox Head. Police were alerted to the incident following numerous calls from the public, with people saying sparks were coming from the vehicle. The man was on his P plates and was recorded with a PCA of 0.140.

Police are seeking any information after an LG DVD player was stolen from a house in Byrnes Lane, Tuckombil, between 9.10am and 1.50pm last Wednesday. Any information in relation to suspicious vehicles or people to Alstonville Police on 6628 0244.
