A fresh and inspiring new exhibition by the Caldera Art Fusion group, entitled Soul Seasons, opens tomorrow, March 11, at the Roxy Gallery in Kyogle.

Caldera Art Fusion are a group of artists guided by Rudolph Steiner inspired artist, Gery Mews, who has trained extensively in European art schools. The group works out of the Lilyfield Community Hall in Barkers Vale and come together each Saturday morning to share, explore and create.

In Soul Seasons the group has experimented with both watercolours and acrylics, with some beautiful results.

The watercolour pieces centre around the cyclical nature of the seasons, and the transition of colours (as taught by Rudolph Steiner) can clearly be seen, while the traditional acrylic 'layer' technique produces more realistic pieces.

This 'layer' technique helps give each artist's work a greater depth, while in contrast, the exploration of colour and form through watercolours allows the artists to free-fall and create spontaneous paintings from the soul.

According to Gery Mews, art is in essence the exploration and manifestation of perceptions through one's soul for the benefit of others. He believes Soul Seasons has captured this essence beautifully and says the inspiration, camaraderie and focus enjoyed by the group has taken them to another level of experience and self-expression.

Artists featured in the exhibition are Gery and Tina Mews, Maurice Roberts, Rebekka Hancock, Sophie Newell, Sasha Wakefield, Brigitte Boll, Lynne Oldfield, Bill Lyons, Edith Rubsamen and Kathy Harrison.

Soul Seasons is on show at the Roxy Gallery until April 6.

Anyone wishing to join the Caldera Art Fusion is welcome to contact Gery or Tina on 6689 7413.
