A house in New Ballina Road, Lismore, was ransacked sometime between 10.45am and 2.30pm last Wednesday, after a window was left open. The thieves stole jewellery, a backpack, wallet, cash and food.

A similar offence also occurred last Wednesday in McKenzie Street, Lismore, between 1.30am and 5pm, with thieves again entering via an open window. They made off with a unique guitar with distinctive markings and an X-box game machine. Any information to Lismore Police on 6623 1599.

An 18-year-old Lismore man was fined $408 last Tuesday after doing a burnout in front of two off-duty police officers in Jacaranda Avenue. He was cautioned and will have his vehicle confiscated if caught again.

Police from Wardell and Ballina were called to Old Bagotville Road in Wardell around 2pm last Wednesday afternoon, following complaints about gunshots. It turns out residents were having an Australia Day party and had thrown some fireworks into a small fire. Police issued a warning in relation to the illegal use of fireworks.

Police are seeking witnesses after three cars were damaged in Tanamera Drive in Alstonville last Thursday night after 10pm. Police are seeking information from the public after a 17-year-old girl was bashed and robbed while trying to deliver pizzas in Casino on Saturday night. The incident occurred around 10.45pm when the girl, an employee of a local pizza store, drove to Colley Park in Pratt Street to deliver a pizza. The girl was flagged down by an Aboriginal male, who punched her in the face and then stole her bag with money and personal items. The male met with a second Aboriginal male and fled from the scene. The girl received a laceration to her face and severe shock. Police are now seeking assistance from the community, particularly from people who reside in Pratt Street, West Street or Johnston Street. Alstonville Police are seeking information relating to the damage of a 1994 Holden Barina in Commercial Road, Alstonville, between 1.35 and 2.05pm on Sunday afternoon. Contact 6628 0244.

Evans Head residents are urged to be vigilant after a 29-year-old female disturbed a peeping tom in Sunderland Street, Evans Head, between 9.20 and 9.30pm on Sunday night. The male was standing in the garden when the victim went outside, and the male was heard running away. Any information to Evans Head Police on 6682 4202.

A 21-year-old Kyogle man was arrested and charged on Sunday afternoon after he was caught travelling at 121kph in a 100 zone on the Summerland Way. The male did not have his P plates displayed, did not have his licence, and recorded a reading of 0.105 after a breath test. The current alcohol limit for provisional licence holders is 0.000.

24 mature cannabis plants were found on a property at Cawongla on Monday afternoon following a search by the Richmond Local Area Command. The plants were found in two plots, watered by a sophisticated irrigation system attached to timing devices. Police enquiries are continuing.

Police are seeking witnesses after a car was damaged in Crane Street, Ballina, between 8.30 and 8.45pm on Tuesday night. The male person, who allegedly smashed the front windscreen of the vehicle, is described as tall, of medium build with dark hair. Any information to Ballina Police on 6681 8699.

Police are reminding businesses to be careful, following a series of incidents where motorists are not paying for goods. Police say motorists are driving off without paying for fuel or are using tricks to convince store attendants that goods have been paid for earlier in the day. Police arrested and charged a 48-year-old Lismore man with high range PCA on Tuesday night after he recorded a reading of 0.125. The man was driving his 1990 Ford in Woodlark Street. Police had to take evasive action to avoid a collision with the alleged offender. Meanwhile, Police arrested and charged a 26-year-old Northern Territory woman in Lismore on Tuesday night after she was detected with a blood alcohol reading of 0.080 and driving without a licence. Both licences were taken from the drivers due to legislation, that states if a motorist is charged with middle or high PCA their licence privileges are immediately suspended.
