Police are seeking information following damage to a red cedar tree in Clare Street, Alstonville, between 8pm on Tuesday and 8am on Wednesday.

Police are seeking witnesses to an alleged hit and run that occurred in Lismore between 1.40am and 2am last Thursday morning.

A 31-year-old Lismore man was injured when a small white car hit him in Dawson Street, near the intersection of Orion Street. It is alleged the vehicle deliberately swerved towards the victim. Any information to Lismore Police on 6623 1599.

Police are seeking information from the public in relation to a theft from a 2000 Holden utility in Pine Avenue, Ballina, at 10.20am on Monday morning. Police are seeking witnesses to the event and are keen to speak to a male -aged about 20, wearing a dark blue shirt, long board shorts and short hair. Any information to Ballina Police on 6681 8699.

Police arrested and charged a 33-year-old Lismore man with numerous traffic offences at 3.50pm on Monday afternoon. The male was driving a 1983 Ford sedan which was not registered or insured. He originally gave Police false details regarding his name and date of birth. It was discovered the male's licence had expired in February 1998 and was cancelled. He was refused bail due to an outstanding warrant for stealing offences.

Police are warning residents and visitors to be careful of valuables at local waterholes after wallets and mobile phones were stolen from a car parked at Dalwood Falls on Saturday afternoon. Police warn vehicle owners to remove their valuables or leave them at home when venturing out to isolated swimming holes.

Police are warning business owners to store their takings securely following an aggravated break, enter and steal at a Ballina business on Monday morning.

A male described as 180-190cms tall with dark clothing forced his way into the premises in Edgewater Cove, Ballina, stealing a large amount of cash and a handbag.

An off-duty police officer from the Lismore area, on holidays at Coffs Harbour, was injured following a domestic violence dispute last Saturday. The police officer attempted to diffuse a heated domestic dispute at around 3am and told the two parties he was a police officer, at which time both the male and female turned on the officer and seriously assaulted him. The officer suffered a cut and bruising to the right eye, bruising on the upper back, upper right arm, chest and what appears to be a bite mark to the right shoulder. Police have arrested a male person in relation to the incident and believe a further arrest is imminent.
