The who's who of the Australian art world have come together to present a new exhibition that will provide relief for women and children trying to rebuild their lives in Afghanistan.
Sue Vader and David Julien are presenting an exhibition at their Wilson's Creek home, with a proportion of proceeds going towards Mahboba's Promise a grass roots charity that supports Afghani women and children in need.
Many high-profile artists have contributed to the exhibition, with originals and limited edition pieces from the likes of David Boyd, Lloyd Rees, Gwan Wei, Colin Lanceley and Tim Storrier. There are also other works from the Boyd and Ashton families and some local works including two stunning portraits from Donna Hawkins of Brunswick Heads and hand blown glass works by Epic Clearheart.
Last time Sue and David held a fundraising exhibition they raised more than $15,000 for Mahboba's Promise, which group leader Mahboba Rawi says came just when they had reached crisis point. The group is now building one large refuge in Afghanistan to house the many victims of war left homeless and helpless following the fall of the Taliban.
The exhibition will be opened this Saturday, November 27, at 5pm, where people can meet David Boyd's daughter Lucinda and chat to her about the works. For information or to attend the opening phone Sue on 6684 0109. The exhibition will be on show right up until Christmas. |
