Alstonville residents are being warned to be on the lookout for a young man selling a bogus raffle in the village. Police say the man is described as having a solid build, 165 to 170cm tall, with a fair complexion, wearing a green t-shirt.
Between 11.30am and midday last Tuesday the man was selling fraudulent raffle tickets for a raffle previously held for the Wollongbar-Alstonville Rugby Club some time ago. Any information to Alstonville or Ballina Police.
A 26-year-old Nimbin woman has been charged with possessing a prohibited drug after police found 25 cannabis plants, with an alleged street value of $50,000, at a Tuntable Road property last Wednesday afternoon.
A 35-year-old truck driver had a lucky escape after his semi-trailer crashed on the Bangalow Road on Sunday night. Police say witnesses had rung 000 after seeing the truck swerving near Carolina Street around 6.45pm. While on the phone to emergency services, the semi veered onto the wrong side of the road before colliding with a large tree, careering down an embankment and rolling. The driver was trapped but released a short time later and taken to Lismore Base Hospital with minor injuries.
A 25-year-old Casino man was killed when his car collided with a tree on the Summerland Way, 12km south of Casino on Sunday night. Police are investigating the cause of the accident which took the life of Drew Levi.
A teenage boy was arrested in the Lismore CBD on Sunday night for breaching his bail conditions. The 13-year-old Lismore youth was spotted riding a small blue scooter in Woodlark Street around 10.25pm by patrolling Police. His bail conditions state that he is not allowed to be absent from home unless in the company of a custodian or attending school.
A 33-year-old Ballina man has been arrested over smashing a glass window at Dominos Pizza on October 6. A Police patrol spotted the man riding a skateboard. He also faces a series of other charges, including several counts of stealing (shoplifting), offensive conduct and trespass.
Beef farmers have been warned to be on the lookout after eight Angus steers, valued at $4,400, were stolen from a property on Spring Grove Road. The cattle went missing between September 18 and October 5. Police are asking property owners to be on the lookout for suspicious activity and unfamiliar cattle trucks. Two people are facing serious drug charges after Police raided a Barkers Vale property on Monday afternoon. Officers conducted a search warrant on the Williams Road property and found 383 cannabis plants, 1.5 kg of cannabis leaf, cannabis seeds, hydroponic equipment, cash, ammunition and two illegal compound bows. The cannabis is estimated to be worth $750,000.
A 38-year-old Barkers Vale woman has been charged with possession and supplying a commercial quantity of a prohibited drug, as well as goods in custody, and possessing ammunition and prohibited weapons. A 32-year-old man has been charged with being knowingly involved in the cultivation of cannabis, and possessing ammunition and prohibited weapons. Both have been summonsed to appear in Lismore Local Court late next month. Police enquiries are continuing.
A 25-year-old male pedestrian suffered a broken leg and minor abrasions after stepping into the path on traffic on Ballina Road, Goonellabah, on Tuesday morning. The accident occurred around 9.40am after the man stepped onto the road from behind a parked car.

A 43-year-old Lismore man has been charged with assaulting police after he allegedly attacked them following a domestic dispute in Savins Road, North Lismore, on Tuesday night. Police allege that they were taking the man back to the station in a caged truck when he assaulted Police, who received soft tissue injuries, back injuries, a laceration and torn clothing. The man will appear in court on November 22.
