Police are looking for a teenage youth following a break-in at a Goonellabah home last Wednesday evening. A 43-year- old heard noises in the garage of his Magnolia Place home around 7.30pm and went to investigate, finding a young male with his wife's joggers and his mountain bike. The man gave chase and the thief dropped the bike and joggers. The man also recovered a blue baseball cap and a blue-handle screwdriver. The thief is described as 14-15 years-old, of thin build, Caucasian with sandy coloured hair, approx 165cm tall, wearing a dark blue or black tracksuit with a white strip down the sleeve, joggers, and blue baseball cap with the number 59 in white on the front. A thief stole a bicycle, helmet, beer and rum from an open garage in Highfield Terrace, Goonellabah, between 4:45pm and 8:15pm on Wednesday.
A 34-year-old Lismore man was arrested on Sunday morning and charged with goods in custody and assaulting police after he was allegedly found in possession of assorted electrical and garden equipment, valued at $1500. Police are seeking information from anyone in the Lismore Hospital area who may be missing these items.
Police were called to the Nimbin Hotel around 8:40pm on Sunday over a number of persons causing trouble. The situation had settled when they arrived, but as Police were leaving, a 21-year old Nimbin man allegedly threw two glass bottles at them. The man then headed down Cullen Street, yelling abuse, attacking shop doors and knocking over pot plants and pulling out plants. Police were allegedly attacked when they arrested the man. He has been charged with malicious damage and assaulting Police.
An Alstonville homeowner interrupted a thief attempting to steal tools from his garage on Tuesday night. At around 2am, the Elliot Avenue resident was woken up by noises from his carport. He investigated and saw a man running from the garage. The thief had put power tools and extension leads into a suitcase, but fled empty-handed. Any information to Alstonville Police on 6628 0244.
A 32-year-old Casino man was charged with a number of offences after he was seen travelling at up to 160km/h on Union Street on Monday. Police first saw the man driving at speed through the Molesworth/Ballina streets roundabout at around 7.25pm. They followed him and watched him cross unbroken lines whilst overtaking and throw a lit cigarette out the car window. The man was issued with infringements for speed, crossing unbroken lines and one for littering.
Lismore Police are seeking information following attacks on letterboxes in the Goonellabah area. At 9.30pm on Monday, vandals destroyed a letterbox in Greenhills Drive, Goonellabah, before driving off in a V8 car.
Ten minutes later, a man was seen getting out of a dark-coloured Commodore V8 sedan and smashing a letterbox in Just Street, Goonellabah. Any information to Lismore Police on 6623 1599.
A BMX bike, worth $450, was stolen from the backyard of a house in Acacia Place, Ballina, some time between 3:30pm Friday and 8:45am Tuesday, despite the fact that the bike was chained up in the yard.
A 40-year-old Lismore man will appear in Lismore Local Court on September 27 to face a number of driving offences after he was stopped on Wyrallah Road, East Lismore, in the early hours of Tuesday.
Police stopped the 1984 white Holden sedan at around 3:10am, only to discover that the car's registration had expired almost a year ago and that the driver did not hold a current driver's licence. A breath test gave a high range blood alcohol reading of 0.19 and the man was arrested.
