A 29-year-old Casino man was caught speeding and drunk on the Bruxner Highway on Sunday night. Highway Patrol Police stopped him at Uralba at around 9.50pm and charged him with exceeding the speed limit by more than 45 km/h. He was breath tested and had a middle range PCA reading of 0.105.
Police and Fire Brigade were called to the Ballina Angling Club, Canal Road, Ballina around 2.54am on Monday to find a timber storage shed alight. A 15-year-old McLean's Ridges youth suffered severe burns to his left arm, hand and eye when a homemade bomb exploded in his hand on Saturday. Two teenagers made the bomb using basic household chemicals from information gathered on the internet. The youth jumped into the pool to stop the burning, but struggled to breathe. His friend called an ambulance for help.

The Alstonville Physiotherapy and Sports Injury Centre in Bugden Avenue suffered considerable structural damage following a fire at around midnight last Thursday. The Alstonville Fire Brigade responded within eight minutes of receiving an emergency call and found the premises burning at the rear right corner. The fire spread to the roof and took around 90 minutes to bring under control. Investigations into the cause of the blaze are continuing.
A 30-year-old Tabulam mother who has never held a drivers licence and has been disqualified from driving until 2019 was discovered driving along the Bruxner Highway at Piora on Wednesday night. Police recognised her blue Holden Commodore station wagon after it pulled over in front of them. She will appear in Casino Court on September 8.
A yellow and black Sea Doo jet ski worth $10,000 was stolen from the backyard in Richmond Street, Wardell between 11:30pm last Wednesday and 12:05am last Thursday. A 29-year-old Alstonville woman has been charged with possessing a prohibited drug and cultivating a prohibited plant after police discovered several cannabis plants growing in the backyard of a house in Whipps Ave, Alstonville, last Tuesday. She will appear in Ballina Court on August 20.
