A 47-year-old man who was banned from driving for almost 1000 years following a series of drink driving charges was arrested again on Thursday morning driving a car in the CBD. Police saw the man behind the wheel of a 1984 Nissan Bluebird with no lights on, heading west on Woodlark Street at around 3:05am, where he was stopped for a breath test. He was found to have blood alcohol reading of 0.130.
Lismore detectives are seeking information on an armed robbery at the Lismore Guide Hall in Magellan Street between 6.45pm and 7.15pm on Wednesday. The alleged offender described as male, early 20s, thin build, 170cm-185cm tall, Caucasian, short hair, with an olive complexion and triangular face.
The man confronted two women with a weapon, demanding money and valuables, taking a quantity of jewellery. The women escaped uninjured. If you can help, phone Police on 6623 1599.
Residents of a house in Bright Street, East Lismore, lost jewellery valued at $560 in a break-in between 8.15am and 5pm last Wednesday. The thief gained access through a closed, but not locked bedroom window and stole a case containing a ring, watch, earrings, chains and a bracelet.
A 24-year-old man has been charged malicious damage and possessing prohibited drug following an incident in which a video surveillance camera was damaged at the Lennox Point Hotel. Police patrolling West Ballina spotted the man at a service station shortly after midnight on Monday and arrested him
An Alstonville resident had their car damaged over the weekend. Between 9.30am on Friday and 4.30pm Sunday, someone broke into a blue Honda sedan in a carport in Ashland Street. Thieves stole the front and rear number plates, left and right hand indicator lenses, bumper indicator lenses and the front windscreen wipers were bent and the blades taken. Alstonville police are seeking information after two men driving a dark Holden sedan were seen damaging a fruit stall, then later a letterbox on Ellis Road, Alstonville. The offenders were seen driving west between 7.45 and 8pm on Friday night. In a separate incident, someone damaged the roof and letterbox of a house in Wenga Drive, Alstonville, some time between 9pm Saturday and 9am Sunday. A letterbox on Sneaths Road, Wollongbar, was also attacked between 2pm Saturday and noon on Sunday. Any information to Alstonville Police on 6628 0244.
A spate of car break-ins occurred in Ballina on Monday night. A Ford Falcon, parked in Linderman Street had its right rear quarter window damaged. A Toyota sedan parked in Riverside Drive, Ballina also had a window smashed and a wallet and a detachable JVC stereo face were stolen. A silver Hyundai parked in Smith Drive, West Ballina, was broken into and a Sony CD discman and a small amount of cash were stolen, and a Mazda sedan parked in Swift Street was also broken into.
Police are looking for five or six young people seen running from the area where a home in Kruseana Drive, Goonellabah was broken into between 12.30pm and 3.15pm on Monday. Several vehicles in the Alstonville area were broken into on Tuesday night. Thieves stole registration papers, a boogie board and flippers from a Ford Laser parked in Maple Drive. In Wardell road, a Holden Barina had its quarter window broken to gain access. A CD player, a large quantity of CDs, plus reading glasses, valued at $1500 in total, were stolen from a Nissan Pulsar parked in Robertson Street, Alstonville. A 41 year- old woman awoke in her unit in Bentinck Street, Ballina at 2:05am on Wednesday following a loud smash and discovered that thieves had smashed the glass of a rear sliding door and stolen her handbag containing cash, credit cards, drivers licence and cheque book.
