Australia West to East is Bob's homage to the outback and desert areas of Australia, with striking depictions of the vibrant scenery in central Australia, the Flinders Ranges, New England tablelands and the Northern Rivers.
"I didn't pick up a paintbrush until after I retired at 65 and it's like anything artistic - it's relaxing and I forget all my worries when I sit down to paint," Bob said. "We went for a trip out to central Australia and I was absolutely staggered by the brilliant colours. Even though it's 20 years since I've been there I can still paint from memory because those colours are so vivid in my mind. I was very influenced by Albert Namatjira's work - the colour he used and way he captured the desert was inspiring. You could see the colour leaping out from his paintings from 50 yards away."
