"The works relate to the people I'm close to and have formed bonds with here - they reflect my new environment," Ben said. "Moving here had a big cultural effect on me and I find it inspiring to be around other people I can bounce ideas off and get feedback from. Have other artists around me has really allowed me to unleash my creativity."
Show Pony showcases a collection of charcoal, pastel and ink drawings as well as some heat transfer prints that Ben has created since his arrival on the North Coast. Yet despite this newfound inspiration, art has always been a big part of Ben's life.
"Both my parents are artists so it's always been in my blood," Ben said. "I've never considered it something I've learnt - it's just always been there as a way of expressing myself." Show Pony is on display until July 29. |
