Roland is well known locally not just for his unusual name but also for his out-of-the-ordinary artistic creations, which include 'The River' sculpture on the Magellan Street footpath that he created as part of the beautification of the street in 1999.

This latest collection of works includes new paintings, drawings, sculptures and prints, as well as some digital imagery, a medium Roland has been experimenting with more and more.

The style of the artworks vary greatly from piece to piece, but like the title suggests, Local Impressions Etc looks largely at the impact moving to the Northern Rivers had on Roland's life.

"Coming from Sydney the local environment had a big influence on my art - not just the region's physical landscapes but the way this area makes me feel," Roland said. "This series is more spiritual than previous ones - I've tried to explore my emotions more. I suppose I'm just going with the North Coast trend!"

This Saturday, June 12, art lovers are invited to meet Roland in person from 10am to 1pm at the gallery, 43b Wyrallah Road (in the Wotherspoon's building).

Local Impressions Etc is on show until June 23.
