Thunderstruck

Loving their Acca Dacca... the boys from Thunderstruck.
Want the good news? This is the funniest Australian movie I've seen for ages. Which, considering the calibre of the other candidates, isn't really saying much... But seriously, Thunderstruck is a hoot and you don't have to be a hard rocking AC/DC fan to enjoy it. (Although what true dinky di Aussie wouldn't admit to being a Bon Scott fan!)
And you couldn't get more dedicated AC/DC fans than best mates Sonny (Damon Gameau), Ben (Stephen Curry), Lloyd (Ryan Johnson), Sam (Callan Mulvey) and Ronnie (Sam Worthington).
The year is 1991 and alls five are thrashing it out in the mosh pit at an AC/DC concert. Sure Bon Scott is dead but the band rocks on with new lead singer Brian Johnson.
After an unsuccessful attempt to crash the band's after party and meet their idols in person, the boys have a near death experience. They credit their survival on Bon Scott and make a promise that if one of them dies, the others will bury him beside the rock legend in the cemetery in Freemantle, Western Australia.
Twelve years later and yep, you guessed it, one of the gang dies in a freak accident. Although no longer close, this tragedy draws the remaining four back together and they vow to honour their promise and make the long road trip over to WA, Let the good times roll...
Like I said, it's been a long time since I enjoyed an Aussie movie this much. It has more heart and raw energy than a lot of recent Hollywood productions. The young cast are fabulous and the soundtrack obviously rocks. And whatever you do, don't leave until all the credits have finished.
Highly recommended for the young and the young at heart! Rock on!
