Entitled On the Edge, the exhibition takes a detailed and reverent look at the unique landscape of Fraser Island, his large works revealing the intricacy of pattern and colour found in the natural world.
"Contemporary man often forgets to look and really see his immediate environment, let alone the natural one," Robert said. "In this exhibition I want to demonstrate an individual and contemporary way of 'looking' at and 'seeing' landscape, using imagery found along the shores of Fraser Island's Lake Boomanjin and Benaroon."
On the Edge is on tour from Hervey Bay Regional Gallery. Also on show in the gallery's OuterSpace window exhibition area is a dynamic work by local sculptor Paddy Redmond. The installation, Blind Faith, considers aspects of his Catholic cultural heritage, memory and childhood, and is available for viewing 24 hours a day from Molesworth Street.
On The Edge and Blind Faith are both on show until May 8, along with a mixed collection of artworks from the gallery's permanent collection. The gallery is open Tuesday to Friday from 10am to 4pm and on Saturday from 10.30am to 2.30pm.
