Sue Vader, a friend of the Boyd family since the 1960s, currently has a new exhibition of artworks by the Ashton and Boyd families on show at her home in Wilson's Creek. The exhibition showcases works by Julian Ashton's grandson Richard, his wife Wenda and their children Helen and Philip as well as David Boyd, his daughters Lucinda and Cassandra and granddaughter Jesamine.
Sue's son Jasper, who also happens to be David Boyd's godson, was the brains behind the exhibition, but it was his mum who eventually ensured the show became a reality.
"It was such a good idea and everyone was so happy to take part - it was an exhibition just waiting to happen," Sue said. "The Boyd and Ashton families are two of the most illustrious families in Australian art history since the 1900s and this is a rare opportunity to see these artworks together."
As well being a great insight into these artistic families, the exhibition also has a much more altruistic function, with part proceeds from sales of artworks going towards the education of Afghani women.
The exhibition is on show throughout April, but viewing is by appointment only. Phone Sue on 6684 0109. The Boyd family are also looking for works by the late Amanda Boyd, who lived and worked in Byron Bay. Anyone with artwork or info should call Sue on the above number. |
