The exhibition showcases a huge variety of styles and mediums, with everything from paintings and sculptural pieces to handmade felt crafts and frosted glass works included in this stunning collection.
"There is an amazing quality and variety of works, which reflects the diverse culture of Nimbin and the surrounding area," gallery director, Margaret McLaren, said. "Nimbin draws creative people to it and brings out the best in them, and I think the results speak for themselves. Nimbin has so much to offer - and as well as the two art galleries people can visit the candle making factory, craft gallery and Djanbung Permaculture Gardens, and just have a lovely day discovering why Nimbin is such a special part of the world. We want visitors to get off the street and see the real Nimbin and its people. There is a real sense of community here."
The gallery itself is just one example of the Nimbin community at work, being a not-for-profit organisation that is run solely by volunteers with no outside funding.
Nimbin at Heart II is on show until the end of January. |
